Udaipur....the hot spiced milk man.

As with any self respecting north Indian town, there are hot spiced milk stalls around town.  This is one we ran into the other night while out on a wander.  And was it ever good....
A small shop closing up for the night, right next to.....
The Hot Spiced Milk Guy!
Goodies out of the big boiling wok.
Getting the good stuff ready.
Getting some height...
Go for the gusto.
Getting frothy!
Ready to go.
Note the most excellent skim concentrated flavour on the top! Mmmmmm....

The thing you must do - organized arts in Udaipur.

So....I'm in Udaipur, centre for a a lot of Rajasthani art, music, etc. So, I went to a 'cultural show' the other night, and it was great.  I saw something similar here 15 years ago, but this was performed inside an old havelli (next door to my Guest House - Lal Ghat Guest House, the best), in a lovely open spot that seemed made for watching performance under the stars.  Only an hour, so a real concentrated blast.

A slow day in Udaipur.

Didn't do too much on Saturday, the 7th.  Went down to the clothes-cleaning ghat - lots of housewives beating their husbands clothes senseless....or something like that.  Had a walk to visit a store at the other end of the lake (on the Unchalli Falls walk a lens hood went rolling down a steep hill thru the jungle.....and couldn't be found, so I was able to get a new one), took a few pics, then before & after dinner went for a couple of walks around town.  In the order of being taken:

Looking for a good place to have breakfast.

A lot of work, and even the guys do it sometimes.

A glimpse into a home.

"Take picture! Take picture! One picture!"

Side of the road rest.

Lots of Ganesh images all over the town.

A snack left out.

Oops...roadside repair.

A little Ganesh outside a front door.

No handrails needed.

The daily walk at night.

So...maybe it does look like Jesus made it to India...and he and Shiva became beard buds?
